My week spent here in St Maarten with my husband was great overall. we were a bit limited to what we could do because we did not rent a car. I would definately rent a car next time. It's much more cost effective especially if you want to venture out every day. The beaches here are beautiful so it's definately worth engaging in a water activity such as a boat trip with snorkeling. Shopping is good in Philipsburg and it's conveniently located where we stayed at Little Bay on the Dutch side. My one and only Problem was to see so many stray animals roaming about. All in all it was a great vacation!
